RAIN – the evil word that comes to any girls mind when wedding planning is the topic of conversation. It really doesn’t need to be that way if you have done your proper planning and have booked professionals, particularly when it comes to your wedding photographer.
In an earlier blog post I gave you 9 options to consider for your ceremony if it rains on your wedding day – focusing particularly on the areas we cover at Impact Images – Newcastle, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley Vineyards. In the video below, I have 11 great wet weather location options to consider for your wedding photography shoot which usually happens between your ceremony and reception.
As you heard in the video, one of the biggest challenges that inexperienced wedding photographers will face in wet weather is tough lighting conditions. When booking your photographer, you must bring up the topic of wet weather options and how they are going to handle that situation for you.
Be particularly wary if they laugh it off with – Ohhh, it won’t rain on your wedding day!
Many of the options I discuss in the video will be dependant on your photographers ‘contacts’ in the area they work. The better connected and established they are, the more chance you have of getting a great wet weather location for your wedding photography. This is especially so in smaller and less built up areas like the Central Coast. Newcastle definitely has more options available.
So what are the chances of rain on your wedding day? Pretty slim really. But my experience says not to risk it. Be prepared with a back-up plan and chances are, the sun will be shining on you day… that’s usually the way it goes.
If you’d rather read the transcription than watch the video, it’s available here.
Both Emma & Paul and Karla & Simon experienced rain on their wedding day but as you’ll see, a little prior planning resulted in great wedding photos.
In the video, I mentioned the wedding of Nick & Catherine that Natalie form our Newcastle studio photographed in and around Newcastle train station. Although there was no rain on their wedding day, you can see from the amazing photos that it wouldn’t have mattered one little bit if it did!
