Woohoo! You’re engaged… Congrats!
You might have heard about, even seen some engagement photos before. What about something different? If you’re adventurous and up for something different… how about photos that really show who you are as a couple?
One of the first things we get asked… “What’s the deal with the engagement shoot, should we get one, does it really matter?
The answer is, it depends. And it really does.
If you or your partner are at all nervous about having your photos taken on the wedding day then yeah, have an engagement shoot.
If you don’t have any cool photos of you guys together – and we don’t mean selfies or phone photos from a friend at your engagement party or the pub – then yeah, for sure, have an engagement shoot. You’ll love the photos!
For the cost, only $100 (including an enlargement), you’ll get some of the best photos you’ve ever had of yourselves, both individually and as a couple plus it’s a sh#t load of fun. Seriously… every shoot is totally different and everyone has a great time at these sessions… even the guys!
The first step is to answer some questions so we can get a better idea of a suitable location for your shoot… beach, park, cafe, home, out in the bush, on a farm, under a waterfall, on a boat, riding your bikes, cooking up a storm, exercising, a picnic or laying around in bed… it’s up be up to you, and really, it depends on where you like to spend your time, hanging out together.
If you have a place that means something special to the two of you, let’s go there!
Once we have a location sorted, we’ll chat about fashion and styling but usually this is you guys in what you’d normally wear to wherever we’re going for the shoot. There’s no need to get all matchy-matchy just for the photos. Matching blue jeans and white T’s… Hmmm, naahhh, I don’t think so. The plan is to keep these photos as real and authentic as possible.
Next is the timing. When will the light be best for what we’re trying to achieve (dark and moody, light and airy) and where we’re going? We’ll help with that because the light will play a big factor on how the shoot works in regard to the look we’re after for you guys.
That’s it, lock it in the time and date and we meet up on the day.
During an engagement shoot, things are a little different to a wedding day… no suit and gown, probably less alcohol, no friends around and less hoo-haa. That’s all fine but it usually means we have to give a little more direction to get things happening. We’re all good with that if you are.
On the wedding day, it’s more me photographing the day as it happens, being in the right places at the right times to capture the little stories of the day, an engagement session is different. It’s the two of you, somewhere, with us and our cameras.
Every shoot is totally different and everyone has a great time at these sessions… even the guys!
That’s cool though. We’ll help with the direction, get to know you guys better and we’ll have a chance to photograph the real you as couple. Whether that’s holding hands while walking down a dirt road in the bush, kissing passionately under a waterfall, riding your bikes through the park, throwing flour all over the kitchen while baking a cake… whatever. We’ll be documenting the two of you in a way you haven’t been photographed before.
After the shoot, we’ll organise a time for you to come to the studio, grab a beer or wine, sit back and see your photos for the first time. You get to choose your enlargement (included with the $100 shoot fee) and purchase anything else you like. We’ll chat more about your up-coming wedding day and just chill.
All in all, it’s a fun experience. It’s all about you and capturing the two of you in a way you’ve never been photographed before.
The photos can be romantic, gritty, dark, light, airy, black & white or colour.
Everything revolves around you, your personalities, the location and my creativity. One thing is certain, your images will be unique to you.
If this sounds like the kind of experience you’re looking for then get in touch and let’s create something cool together!
