A Big Welcome to Ash

You may have noticed our newest team member Ash, on the "about us" page on the website and thought we'd ask Ash introduce herself:

Hi! I'm Ash and I'm about to complete my second year studying visual communication design at Newcastle Uni. I love being creative and my favourite form of self expression is through my lens. I'm so happy to be on board at Impact and look forward to continuing to learn from one of Newcastle’s finest photographers.

Following her brief introduction Natalie added that Ash is a brilliant assistant, a photoshop whizz and has a major sweet tooth for all things chocolate, coke and even adds sugar to her flavoured coffees!

When asked to set up a new folder for images she titled the folder "Ash is the Best" - pretty sure she's going to fit right in! Welcome to Impact Ash, where it definitely helps to have some ATTITUDE!

July 2009

Newcastle Couture Shoot

Last week Natalie organised a shoot for local couturist Bella Donna - Designs by Melanie Ford with the concept of "1920's vintage glamour" for their advertising use in the coming twelve months. The shoot was a great success thanks to the help of hair stylists Toni and Guy at the Jubction, make-up artist Jes Obrien, Jewels - Crystal Confetti and our three beautiful models Peta, Tallina and Desley.

The shoot would not have come together without the use of two venues that happily allowed us into their amazing establishments Bacchus and then The Great Northern.

Thanks everyone for your help in putting this together on limited time, I think you'll agree that Natalie has fulfilled the brief to perfection - keep a lookout for her images in future magazines and brochures.

Last Chance

This is the last month to have your chance to take up the amazing Newcastle portrait offer below - this offer finishes at the end of the July. Many families have been taking advantage of the special which is basically a FREE sitting AND enlargement!

Sure, you will want to purchase more but this is only because we were able to capture some fantastic photos of you and your family. Don't let this chance slip away - call the Newcastle studio on 1300 85 10 60 and make your booking today.

Award Winning Print

Last weekend the national AIPP print awards were held at Darling Harbour where Natalie was awarded a silver in the wedding photojournalistic category for the image below. The award image features Sarah and Matt and was taken at the Wandin Valley winery in the Hunter Valley. Matt was one of the most romantic guys that Natalie has photographed and his feelings for Sarah were so obvious on the wedding day that beautiful moments were presenting themselves constantly. This particular image was captured on the road up to the cellar door - Natalie was changing lenses as she turned to capture this moment.

The Hunter Valley is littered with scenes like this which makes it the perfect place for a wedding but not many reception centres can boast their very own cricket pitch like Wandin Valley. The day after the wedding, Sarah, Matt, their families and guests all got together for a game of cricket at the estate - what a way to finish the perfect weekend! I'm unsure of which family was the eventual winner.

June 2009

More Awards for Impact

The judging at this years State Awards for the AIPP were tougher than ever but we still managed to bag our share of awards. With our studios shooting more portraits than ever this year in both the studio and on location we decided to enter in the portrait category as well as the weddings. Above are a few of our award images from this year.

Amazing Portrait Offer From Newcastle Studio

As a special introductory offer from the Newcastle Studio we are offering a free portrait session at a location of your choice in the Newcastle area - normally $95.00 PLUS a free 8" x 10" enlargement valued at $150.00. That's a total saving of almost $250.00!

How can we make such a ridiculous offer? We are so confident that you will fall in love with your photos that you will want to purchase more. If you are concerned about our sales techniques - rest assured there is no hard sell or pressure selling to buy any more than your free enlargement. Be warned though, you will fall in love with what we create and will want to purchase more images. Our mission is to make your decision as difficult as possible with an array of images that you had only ever dreamt of.

To take advantage of this one off special you need to call the Newcastle Studio on 1300 85 10 60 and book your shoot. This offer is only available to bookings made in the months of June and July and can be used for family, couples, kids or new-born shoots.

Hurry and don't miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity to capture some beautiful images of you and your family, reserve your spot now.

Photography Assistant Required

Andrew at the Erina Studio and Natalie at the Newcastle studio are both seeking a photography assistant for weekend work at weddings.

The successful applicant will not be required to shoot but some understanding of photography and lighting would be an advantage. A drivers license and transport is essential as you will have to meet and finish on the job in different locations and times on each shoot.

Please address your interest to andrew@impact-images.com.au if you are based on the Central Coast, or to Natalie at newcastle@impact-images.com.au if you are based in the Newcastle area.

Natalie and I (Andrew) have spent the whole of last week at an extensive photography workshop in Sydney to improve and hone our photographic knowledge with one of the worlds leading wedding photographers. We covered all manner of topics with a heavy component dedicated to refining skills in the areas of lighting, posing, low light situations and getting the very best out of every bride, groom and location.

The timetable was exhaustive and included multiple location shoots in all manner of lighting conditions with different models and couples. We both walked away with our heads spinning and a desire to start putting into practice our new found skills.

The reason for our attending such a workshop is no secret - we both want to be the best photographers we can be. By continually learning new techniques, styles, ideas and refining our expertise we can offer our couples the very best and that is exactly what we strive to do at Impact. Can't wait to photograph your wedding!

Krystal and Will's wedding day is drawing near so this will be Krystal's last full week at Impact Images. She will be dearly missed around here and we all wish both her and Will all the very best for their married life. Things won't be the same around here and we trust that they will have the trip of a lifetime as they head off to explore Australia for the next 12 months. Stay tuned for some photos of the wedding which is taking place at South West Rocks in a fortnight!

On the happy side, Jemima has settled into her new role and letting her creative juices flow now that she has come to grips with her new role. Jemima will be your first contact at the Erina Studio by phone and if you'd like to contact her by email she can be reached at jemima@impact-images.com.au

We have been photographing plenty of portraits through our Babies Galore Promotion with a mixture of studio and location shoots and it has been a terrific experience seeing so many happy new parents, pregnant mums and the mischievous toddlers. One thing is for sure - no shoot is ever boring!

March 2009

The current issue of Cosmo Bride features a cover photo taken by Impact Images and article on the wedding of Karlee and Jonathan who were married on the Central Coast.

We had a great time photographing their wedding with plenty of laughs some romantic moments and a terrific bridal party.

As you can see, Karlee was absolutely gorgeous and simply glowing on the day.

February 2009

Recently we received some news which was both exciting and disappointing at the same time - Krystal, our fantastic employee is getting married to the love of her life, William, in April 2009! Along with this great news Krystal revealed her plan for a 12 month honeymoon trip around Australia and the need to find someone to fill her shoes while on her travels. After the shock of having to find a replacement we began our search for that someone special to take on the varied role that Krystal fills in the studio.

After sorting through many applications and conducting numerous interviews I am delighted to say that we have found the perfect person.

Jemima happily accepted the position last week and is currently on her first day with us and fighting off a mind explosion as Krystal takes her through the job. Jemima brings some fantastic qualities to our studio after completing a degree in graphic design at Newcastle University and can't wait to add some of her flair to our images.

No doubt there will be updates on both Krystals wedding at South West Rocks, her beautiful gown by Kel-Leigh Couture and all the other details as well as Jemima's influence at Impact over the coming months. If you speak to Jemima in the near future, be sure to make her feel welcome as she settles into her new role.

If you are planning to have your wedding on the Central Coast you must make the Bridal Expo at Linton Gardens Somersby on Sunday February 22nd, 10am - 4pm.

Why? If you see Krystal or Jemima at the Impact Images stand they will be offering a very special voucher that will entitle you to a special offer on your photography.

This voucher will ONLY be available on the day.

July 2008

June 2008

The Newcastle studio is now complete and open to clients at 526 Hunter Street in the Newcastle CBD. You can find a map to the studio by clicking here. The Newcastle studio will feature the same amazing albums, wedding and portrait photography as the Erina studio and with Natalie leading a young and modern team you are assured of fantastic images and a quality in service and commitment that is only associated with a multi award winning studio. We look forward to seeing you soon.

April 2008

It has been a hectic couple of months with the searching and deciding on a new location for our Newcastle studio. We finally settled on 526 Hunter Street in the Newcastle CBD amongst a number or Bridal stores and directly across the road from the Hotel CBD.

The last month has seen a procession of trades people coming in and out as we put together a beautiful studio in the heart of Newcastle. The end of this week will see Natalie actually move in and start to see clients in the new location. I will add some photos shortly and a map for directions will be available on the web site soon.

In the meantime, contact Natalie on 1300 85 10 60 or 0418 168 390 if you need some help finding us. Hope to see you soon.

One again a photo from Impact Images has been chosen to '"sell" the Newcastle and Central Coast Wedding magazine for 2008/09. The eye catching image was captured by Corey from the Erina Studio and was taken at the Boat House Restaurant jetty. The restaurant has recently been renovated and is a fantastic venue for a wedding with amazing food.

Many couples organise a short scenic cruise on Brisbane Water complete with canapés and drinks while the bridal party are engaged in a photo shoot. No need to go far though as some great shots can be captured right on the doorstep!

January 2008

Natalie has just returned from a whirl wind trip overseas and started the year running. After dropping her bags at the door it was off to the Newcastle Wedding Expo at The Town Hall, where hundreds of future brides descended on the exhibition. Natalie like many of the exhibitors was out of info packs by lunch time, so if you did miss out, make sure you give Natalie a call at the Newcastle studio on 1300 85 10 60.

This is an exciting time for us at Impact as we start a new chapter with Natalie and her business Shashin Photography to join forces, ideas, and concepts to become IMPACT IMAGES NEWCASTLE. Look out for changes to the website as we update information and images to include some spectacular photos from the Vineyards and Newcastle City.

October 2007

We just received notification from the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) in the USA that our coffee table book/album of Steven and Belinda has been awarded an Accolade of Excellence in the recent album awards. Big news for all of us as now we are an internationally awarded studio.

September 2007

Last night the annual NSW AIPP album awards were held and our studio was awarded runner up in the wedding category. Impact Images has placed every time we have entered these awards since 2003, which is testament to the quality we have established and continue to provide our clients.  This years album featured Malini and Paul from Sydney who celebrated their wedding with two separate ceremonies – one Hindu and the other European. The Hindu wedding was abundant with colours we had never experienced before while the European ceremony beautifully celebrated on Sydney Harbour  – what a special way to start a marriage – one bride, one groom and two weddings.

September 2007
Impact Images is opening in Newcastle. With so many of our clients wishing to marry in the Hunter Valley and requests for wedding photography in the Newcastle area we have decided to open a second studio in Hamilton to service the region. Natalie Grant, who is already part of the team at Impact is the co-owner of the new studio which will operate from her home studio until we find the right location for a high street studio. Impact Images Newcastle is expected to start operations early in the new year. Natalie will be the principal photographer, backed up by some of the best shooters in the area. We look forward to delivering the same award winning photography and albums that our studio has built a reputation for. Stay tuned for further developments on our Newcastle studio.

August 2007
After the last AIPP print awards Andrew had accumulated sufficient points to be awarded his Masters in photography. This prestigious title is much sought after amongst all professional photographers throughout the country. This award makes Andrew the one and only Master wedding photographer on the Central Coast. Needless to say, there were celebrations aplenty at the studio of Impact Images.
